Vocal recital

Students from the Vocal Music Program at Saddleback College will perform songs by American art song composers including Ned Rorem, John Duke, Samuel Barber and Ricky Ian Gordon at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 in Fine Arts 101. Tickets are $15 at saddleback.edu/arts.

Piano concert

Soka Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 18, hosts solo pianist Behzod Abduraimov, who’s worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, NHK Symphony and Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestras. Artists sought

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is seeking local artists to share their talents with the community by chalking parking stalls with Christmas-themed designs. You can register as a youth, adult, team or featured artist. Chalk your stall Dec. 14-16 for the public open house that takes place 6-9 p.m. Dec. 15-16. Plant sale

The Ceramics and Horticulture Department will host fundraising sale at the Saddleback College Greenhouse 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, and Friday, Nov. 17. Admission is Free. The college is at 28000 Marguerite Pkwy in Mission Viejo. Free parking is available in Lot 12.

Tree-lighting ceremony

Kick off the holiday season at Aliso Viejo Town Center for the inaugural All is Bright Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting Ceremony from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30. Enjoy holiday cheer, train rides, ornament making, festive caroling, magical snow fall, photo opportunities and a special visit from Santa as the 20-foot Christmas tree is lit.
